Generally, the reasons for the boiling of the rotary evaporator are as follows:
1、 Solid precipitates during rotation.
2、 The rotating speed of the evaporation bottle is too high.
3、 The temperature of the bath pot is too high. For example, the temperature of ethanol generally will not exceed 35 ℃.
4、 The round bottom flask is too deep in the water bath pot, coupled with high temperature and fast rotation speed, it is easy to burst.
How to deal with the boiling of the rotary evaporator? Here are several solutions:
1、 Negative pressure distillation can be reduced, and even atmospheric distillation can be used.
2、 Reduce the distillation temperature appropriately.
3、 Adjust the speed according to the specific situation.
4、 Distill several times and use a small amount.
In addition to the above four solutions, there is another one that the operator needs to watch the experiment next to the rotary evaporator. If there is a burst of boiling, immediately reduce the negative pressure.
